Your Avid is hung, because it can't reliably batch import AVCHD.
Crash out and restart. Import long AVCHD files one at a time. Import short
AVCHD files in small batches. Check the progress of the imports
periodically to ascertain that they are indeed happening. When the Avid
hangs upon importing AVCHD, you'll see the "time to go" estimate
continuously increasing. That's your cue that it's hung.
