In MC5 onward you can just import it. No big deal. I had a pre-production
FS100 for a day or so - had no difficulty importing footage. No AMA sadly.

My workflow, especially for any larger project, would be this:

1) Organise camera files in to reasonable file structure (Day -> Camera ->
Card) folders on a reliable drive (RAID ideally).
2) Import AVCHD video into Media Composer as "online" codec - probably DNxHD
185
3) Transcode copies to another drive as "offline" codec - probably DNxHD 36
or an SD resolution, depending on needs.
4) ...Edit...
5) Relink edited sequence to "online" clips

Steps 1-3 can be repeated often if editing and filming are concurrent.

Alternatively it would be possible to import directly to the "offline"
codec, then simply batch import again for "online" - either approach is
workable.
