If you use the PDW-1500 in File Access Mode it should be quite a lot
faster than a PDW-U1, because the 1500 has two lasers to read the disc
with and the U1 has only a single a laser. The speed isn't quite
double, but the difference is easily measurable.
The PDW-U1 has been solid in my experience though, and you have to be in
a real hurry before the speed boost alone is worth extra expense. On
the other hand, if you already have the PDW-1500 you can turn on File
Access Mode (FAM) in one of the menus.
