[Avid-L2] Question about Group Clips -

Need advice please - I haven't done this in years, so I must admit to be a bit rusty. We have a 2 cam shoot, producer wants to 'switch live' between the 2 cams. So I created a group clip - to do this I used mark-in points (I also had outs marked) and created a group clip from the BIN menu pull down. (NOTE - one source was a subclip that I created from of an ingested tape, the other source was media xfered from a xd-cam that came in as QT files) When I loaded this new Grp clip into the source monitor I noticed that the inpoint was way earlier than what I had marked. So I tried with no out points marked - got the same results.
Then I tried a MultiGroup, but again, the actual in is WAY earlier than what I had marked.
Interestingly - when I reach the point on the Group Clip that I wanted to switch between, the 2 cams are in perfect sync.
Am I missing a step here ? - i don't remember having had these problems when I did this years ago.
Any thoughts ?? (running PC based HD Media Comoser, vers 3.5.9)

thanks in advance
