Have you tried a different, NEW user setting? This is the kind of funky crap that a corrupted user setting can sometimes cause.

Do people still trash MCState? That was common wisdom a while ago, not sure if it still applies.

Just do a search on your computer for MCState and throw that file away. It will be rebuilt.
