Actually BitTorrent wouldn't be a bad idea for Avid really. Except they'd
have to attract the interest of enough seeds to make it work well. As it is
the full Avid installer is available to anyone anyway (I think, or do you
have to register to download the trial?) - their software activation is
pretty solid and not yet cracked (at least that I've seen).
As for the downloads - yeah. I downloaded a few days ago and it was slow
then too. I wonder if they've made changes to the server setup? I used to
get great speeds from Avid downloads.
And Jason, re: Script Sync - it's no longer "Grandfathered" in with 5.5 you
need to buy a new license to continue using it (although there's a license
management tool, so one license could be "floated" between a number of
clients if that was practical).
