Sorry for hi-jacking this thread, but it reminded me of another
issue we're having with this deck. The playback head seems to
have a clog -- lots of noise/errors. Cleaning tape didn't touch
it... called our supplier who also handles repairs just to get a
feel on how long it might be out if it needs a head replaced and
mentioned to the guy I'd open it up and wipe the heads once
before having them look at it... "Oh, don't do that! Man, you can
do a lot of damage -- anything like that we don't even try and
just send the decks direct to Sony instead."
Wha...? We're new to HDCAM decks, but are they that easy to
destroy? What's the conventional wisdom on cleaning heads?
