[Avid-L2] Re: Need HDCAMsr tape? Good luck!

It's not just tape. From what I've heard in reports, Japanese plants supply 60% of the world's silicon wafers for chips of all types. This will impact every conceivable type of electronic part and product, from cars to cells phones, iPads to HDCAM-SR decks. While most of these plants aren't out of commission, they are probably running on reduced schedules, which will result in lower yields, slower supplies and higher prices, once current inventory runs out.

In addition to Sony, Jim Jannard has already posted at RedUser that this will likely impact the schedule of the later manufactured versions of Epic (current shipping models are hand-built from existing stock).
