[Avid-L2] Re: Inquiry: Installing Media Composer on an FCP Turnkey System

Thanks a lot Jeff. You (and everyone else) provided very helpful
information.

I'm currently running an older version of Media Composer, v3.5.9 on a
PC. I checked the MAC Avid Media Composer Version Matrix at
http://avid.custkb.com/avid/app/selfservice/search.jsp?DocId=267087.

The closest entry to my version is v3.5.4, which is linked to OSX 10.5.5
& 10.5.6 with QT 7.5.5) and 10.5.7 with QT 7.6. Since the next higher
entry is v4.0.2, I gather from this information I must set-up my
secondary hard drive to run no higher than OSX 10.5.7 & QT 7.6. Is this
correct? Does anyone out there have experience with running Media
Composer v3.5.9 in environments higher than OSX 10.5.7 & QT 7.6? I plan
to set-up the Avid drive within the next week, and would like to take
advantage of Snow Leopard and QT X, if possible.

Again, anyone/everyone's feedback is greatly appreciated.

Cheers!

pulling out one drive to swap with another if something goes wrong with
either one of the startup disks.

up to date with it's requirements, and follow the upgrade
recommendations for the FCP setup. Treat them like two different
machines.

Fiber Unity card. To get around that I install the Avid Media Network
software on the FCP bootup drive. This keeps it from complaining about
disks that need to be 'initialized' every few minutes.
