[Avid-L2] Re: AJA or Matrox

Would agree with Oliver, just capture the SD via component or whatever into the IoExpress or MXO2 and then from there into your NLE using whatever target codec is favoured (an SD one with the IoExpress, either SD or HD with the MXO2) ... that said, no, I'm not aware of any need to physically disable the MXO2 to use 1394 input, I think you just toggle in the GUI only (can check for you tomorrow tho if you still need confirmation).

Certainly possible, but not fun if you happen to have a producer observing the proceedings (sometimes true in my case, and sometimes not). I'm not talking about a connector on the AJA box here... OHCI capture is "not supported" from any Firewire port on the computer. So it's kind of like having an Adrenaline... you can do it, but it's a workaround. As Dom says, you need to revert to Software-only mode, which definitely slows things down.

Do the MXO2 products support that? I don't see any connector for that. And why not simply use the direct FW connection when you need that? I'm confused.
