Symp and MC are 32-bit applications. But running them under a 64-bit OS gives you a LOT of extra RAM. In a 32-bit environment, you have a maximum amount of 4GB. If you're lucky, you can get the application to use almost 3Gb, while the other 1GB is eaten by the OS. That is BEFORE you run additional apps. If you're under 4-bit and have at least 6GB installed, each 32-bit app can use a full 4GB of RAM. That's 33% more RAM for the Avid.

Don't do 32.

If you don't own Vista Business 64bit, you might just go Win7. Not officially supported, but I think a lot of folks are doing it anyway.
