Still missing any understanding here. While everything is available in an AMA bin - as it is when you mount a volume in L&T - you have to select a clip to play it even in AMA, right? Select a clip in L&T and play it.
If the goal is to make selects and convert to DNxHD before editing (as Terry says) then to me that seems very much like the same workflow as L&T, just with a different implementation?
