Muxing is the wrong term, re-wrapping is better.
(you don't mux, Avid likes video and sound in seperate files)
And it does work reliable, but you need to make sure the input files are
good to start with.
It does not do any transcoding, just re-wrapping in Avid style.

I've found MXF muxing in FFMBC to be somewhat hit and miss.
Perhaps even the Avid Codecs in Quicktime wrappers would be an improvement?
I've known many ProTools users, none have ever suggested to me that MXF
media was more suitable for them, but I usually provide Avid-codec
Quicktimes.
