Yes, your right that normally there are so many points of failure in this process that it is hopeless, but nonetheless, I'm hoping that I can find at least a better solution.
In my case viewing environment is accurate. I'm working using a blackmagic decklink card and a calibrated panasonic plasma (calibrated using a klien probe).
I have no problems with consistency between FCP and AFX.
The problem is definitely introduced as a result of the gamma encoding and target gamma of the player.
I'll assume for purposes of discussion that the client has a recent vintage macbook pro with 10.6 (2.2 gamma), and is using the latest build of quicktime player X, or quicktime 7, with default settings.
With these assumptions, does anyone have advice on how to make this work? (Short of giving up and using a tape based/DVD/Bluray ISO).
