[Avid-L2] Track Ball maintenance tip

All of a sudden today my Kensington Expert Mouse Track ball started acting erratic when using it for hue offsets.  The pointer would drag along smoothly and then make radical jumps half way across the hue offset vector display.  I tried cleaning the ball and the cup no change.  Restarted several times and unplugged the main frame.  Finally updated from mouse works to Track Ball Works but still the problem persisted.  Funny it only seemed to happen in hue offset but not in any other aspect of the interface or on the desktop.  Finally I noticed there was a microsoft optical  mouse that had been place or perched on a pin lying on the desk.  I don't use the mouse much so I hadn't noticed it tittering on a pencil.  Turns out when I reach forward for hue offset I sometimes bump the table just enough to shake the wobbly mouse to make the pointer jump.  So the lesson here is before spending the morning playing with you track ball check that the mouse
is flat first.  Hope this will help someone from wasting time like I did this morning.
