Eventually yes but I'm not sure how soon. I'm doing a lot of work in-house at
various cable networks and all of our series and movies come to use via HDCAM or
SR.
Where you are correct is that when we deliver promos we don't usually deliver on
tape anymore.
But I think it will be a while before these massive tape libraries I go thru
every day will disappear.

That, too, will soon go away. There are already networks accepting file-based
delivery. Many have already adopted that internally if not for outside
suppliers. This trend will continue, because the network bean-counters will
increasingly refuse to cough up the cash to repair/replace dying decks.
Especially if they get used less and less in daily operations.
