This is how I do the intalls here also.
(I create disk images as well for what that's worth... then just clone to all CPUs)

All mac machines have a standard 'editor' account, and an administrator account where I install all software and make updates as needed. Run all the Avid apps once before letting the standard account open them. (I also activate script sync as admin just in case - no can do on disk images though)

All works fine.
(the exception to this is DAE... 98% of the time it is fine - but sometimes the editor account can't use the DAE until they quit media composer and open it again (no reboot required)) We are currently running MC v. 5.0.3.5
I've got an open trouble ticket with Avid about it - they can recreate it also. So hopefully that means it will get sorted soon.
