Terry answered this, but the culprit is QT and how it interprets/converts levels. Any import means that color management is being handled by QT as it goes into FCP. OTOH, captured clips are controlled by FCP and the codec used. This is an inherent defect in FCP as compared with Adobe, where you do have color management tools.
Have you placed the imported clips on the same timeline as the captured clip? The timeline should match the settings of the captured media, so no rendering required for the captured clip. When you do this, do the imported clips require rendering? If so, what do the levels look like after rendering? In my experience Avid 1:1 uncompressed files get messed up inside FCP once you render.

That's got to be an HDMI problem with the BMD card.
