We do this delivery a lot, and have asked for the same thing.

This has worked for us ONLY when they use continuous ascending TC,
rather than TOD or whatever. Drop the clips into a timelinek, as
suggested, then set the master timeline to match the first clip,
double check the time of each clip against the timeline after that.
Sometimes you have to put a tiny bit of black in there to keep the
clip timecode in sync with the . FWIW - DON'T just play the clip out,
because you'll loose timecode sync- frames will get dropped or
repeated if you're not using 'edit to tape.'

(Surprisingly, the tapes that we've generated this way are actually
more accurate for recapture than original HDCam tapes - given that
HDCam has that nifty old 'time code burp' left over from Digibeta -
that sometimes drops or repeats a frame or field on in-camera edits -
which Avid can be set to ignore- which can accumulate to a serious
offset by the end of a tape)
