Harris/Videotek DL-860 accept no substitute. They're a little more than some others but they work. I've been forced to use an Ensemble Frame Sync/limiter that lets a lot of stuff that sets off the Tek alarms through. I did a test with a half hour show with no color correction. Running through the Ensemble unit gave me 90 plus errors on the log function. Same sequence through the Videotek/Harris ZERO errors. Networks like Discovery will even give you their exact settings for the DL-860 so you can pass their QC level wise. The difference in price between the Ensemble unit I have and the Videotek/Harris was around $1,500.00 hardly a debate which one they should have purchased. Thanks to the poor decision based on price I now have to render the safe color limiter effect on every show. In SD not so bad time wise but it adds another 50 gigs of storage on every show.
If you go with something other than the Harris you gotta ask your self a question. Do you feel lucky? Well do ya, video punk.
