My personal observation is both tape and the HDSLR workflows (both ends of the spectrum) are less hassle than P2 or XDCAM. That's why the JVC or AJA (KiPro) approach holds out a lot of promise. Let the camera write a commonly available media file and go straight into the NLE. No muss no fuss.
