Re: [Avid-L2] {Moviola} RED Update

Three weeks ago I was in a certain D.I. facility here in town grading the feature I just finished. Said same facility is also handling dailies for a certain John Wells series now shooting. They are using the RED with the Mysterium-X. During a break in grading in a big bay, we were shown 2K projection of some of these dailies (although they were shot in 4K). The scenes were all shot at night in locations around Chicago. The images were stunning, clear and, above all, quiet. Absolutely no noise. Tons of depth of field, which to my eye although, isn't all that pleasing.

Suffice it to say, it was quite impressive. That said, for me, these images were almost completely devoid of any real charm or texture. But then, it's a good thing to be able to have a deep image to work with. From there you can probably do what you want you want with it.

Game changer? Of course not. Good lord, everything these days has to be an earthquake just to justify its existence. Can't we all just calm down, stop counting pixels for a living and concentrate on creating things that actually matter?
