RE: [Avid-L2] Unity files and directories limit

Again, it's automatic. So nothing to stick to. Yes, if you have more than
10,000 but less than 20,000 directories, then yes,
indypix4u@portablepost.com you have given up 32,000 files, yielding 468,000.

So theoretically no reason to stick to the 10,000 directories limit? We only
use around 100,000 of the possible 500,000 files.

Are you saying that if you have 20,000 folders you can only have 500,000 -
32,000 files ie 468,000

Do you think there should be no performance hit in doing the above?

Many thanks

You can't change it manually, as it's automatic. Every time you cross over
10.000 directories you give up 32,000 files.

Subject: [Avid-L2] Unity files and directories limit

Hi there,

I vaguely remember it was possible to alter these limits? At the moment we
have 10,000 directories and 500,000 files however we are always close to our
directories limit and never even vaguely close with our files limit. We do a
lot of small projects basically. Is it possible to trade one off against the
other so we had more directories and less files?

We have found when you get close to the 10,000 limit unpredictable things
happen..

Thanks

NIge
