I doubt the switch is the problem - Avid gets 380+ megs second out of a 16 drive storage chassis at 4gb speed. My question is who is running your admin software, & is that system stout enough to keep up with simultaneous read/write requests to the same set of drives. Since there's no dedicated metadata server with the SanMP configs, it might be worth getting their input on the health of the system performing this task.
