[Avid-L2] Time catching up with PowerBook G4

Very occasionally I edit at client premises and for a number of years have been using a 17" PowerBook G4 (1.33GHz, RAM 1.5GB) without a problem.

Having recently upgrade to 3.1.3 on my also aged Dual 2.7GHz PowerPC G5, I finally got round to updating the PB after it no longer recognised my dongle. Composer then tells me I need a minimum of 2GB ram, so it will no longer boot-up; a search on the Avid forum says that the computer is now too slow to run this version of the software.

So, my question is (before I shell out for a 1GB of RAM upgrade, just to see if 3.1.3 would in fact work at all) does anyone out there currently still manage to run my version of Composer on a Powerbook with 2GB of memory?

The PB doesn't need to run fast as I'm usually only cutting talking-head stuff with the more complicated stuff being done back at base. It's also my back-up system so I feel I'm a little exposed at the moment.

Thanks

Mark
