Switching to all the flavors of HD left the Video Output still set to reference, the way it should be. Perhaps it 23.98 projects when you toggle between HD 23.98 to SD NTSC 23.98 that causes the switch to internal reference. Probably figuring that if you were using NTSC 23.98 your feeding black burst for ref. If you toggle to HD 23.98 that is no longer valid as reference and it probably would mess up the HD output signal, haven't tried just thinking out loud. On the SN Classic there are two sync inputs for SD and Trilevel so when toggling project formats it can switch to the different spigot for ref, I can't remember if I ever fought this battle on an SN classic. With the SNDX there is only one reference input so maybe Avid did this to avoid the output going nuts due to a wrong reference signal. Switching to internal would let the output be stable but I agree it can bone you down the line if you don't switch it back to the appropriate reference.

It's got to the point where I have to check the video output settings box every time I do a drop on. I seem to have not done that during a particularly fraught international deliverable at the end of last year so now I've got a QAR fail as a result.
