And again, how MUCH 3D work will be done? There still will be a massive amount of visual communications left to do that is not 3D. Sure, let Avid have DS as it's high-end finishing box that handles 3D, the DI market, and other specialty needs, but there is so much more that (a merged, ideally) MC/Symph can do in that "leftover" non-3D communications world. But hoping that 3D will save Avid is like hoping the feature film market will save Avid. Maybe as a niche product?
Also, as long as Apple's Pro Apps division is profitable (I am not sure it is or is not), why would they not go into it? It is the high-end, logical extension of "iEverything".
