Ian makes a good point with relative positioning versus absolute. If the touch portion worked more like the pen does, that would be a serious first step improvement.
At present you can't put a second finger down to drag like you can on MacBook. But they could add that I assume.
As far as scrolling on the timeline, YES you can. But once you get to a point you want to edit, it becomes challenging. I think this will evolve into a more Minority Report type functionality in the future. That's what i'm looking for. A more tactile approach to editing.
Wacom....are you listening?

If the touch worked like the pen, then the click wouldn't be an issue- a tap would do it.  Maybe putting a second finger down would be a solution for a click, but that would probably conflict with other multi-touch gestures.

It would be really cool if you could pinch to zoom it too, but that's probably asking too much.  Zoom on the timeline isn't the same thing as zooming Photoshop.

I think using a tablet in pen mode with fingers would almost feel like a Minority Report interface.  Add a little haptic feedback and it would be like handling physical clips.
