I deleted the *COPIED* folder and reset the sharing permissions. The only such folder now exists at:
C:\Program Files\Avid\Avid Media Composer\Avid_MediaFiles
I then deleted all database files in both MXF & OMFI folders in all directories on all drives and relaunched. I'd forgotten to clean the OMFI folders.
. . . and Kumbaya . . . all seems well.
