[Avid-L2] Re: OT: The sad state of perceived value of editorial.

That would also be a dream scenario where the production company somehow sees 100% of the boxoffice! Paramount picked up the picture for $300K for all rights in North America. Foreign was already sold. Unknown are the points in addition to the sale. So while 1% of 100,000,000 looks nice, that is not the case. Oren Peli's payday is really the next film.

I have edited many many first time directors films over the years and there is always the promise of, "the next film" which you have to ignore. Out of all the directors I have worked with, only one has been working with me for three films and has gotten to the point where I know produce them in addition to editing as with my last film. It has developed into a great creative working relationship and allows the "editor" to have an equity stake in the project which is the only way I will edit from now on.
