the first documentaries edited with it go online.
i have a project of a friend of mine who used it with the sony xdcam
ex camera. they mounted a hundred of hours of footage as volume and
transcoded them to dv420 (PAL project) to edit in the summer.
now they want to relink to the material to upgrade it to HD. now
figure out as with many long term projects, the original ex files have
moved and relink does not work even if the ex files are mounted now
again.
they first did not understand, because tests worked very well. i did a
test last night and it worked for some clips, but not for others.
for now, i have a theory why it sometimes does not work, with the
hints of avid clip information:
- for short clips, the sony camera does create one single file with
one MOBID which looks like a unique identifier string.
- for long clips, the sony camera creates multiple files we have clips
with 4 files for example. apparently, then, also multiple MobID are
necessary. the first one is
the unique identifier string, but number 2-4 are that string preceeded
by the unix path of the file.
the original clip in the sequence has then MOBID which refer to the
first location of the file and the online clip has the MOBID which
refers to the new location and the clip will not relink.
we tried also to consolidate the online clip so it becomes an avid
media file, but the clip in the sequence will not relink to it.
what we did not try yet is to move the ex files so that the unix path
matches the original unix path.
did anyone get the same problem yet?
