Speed. Simply runs faster, in my experience.

And for longform, you simply cannot handle 90 minute multilayer sequences in
Avid under XP32, since you will run out of mem within a few hours. Under
Vista, the application can use 4GB rather than the 2.5GB available under
XP32. That alone for me was worth it, my mem use dropped from 60% (rendering
the system unusably slow) to around 30-35% max.
