I've been playing around with a slightly different workflow for a friend on a low budget doc with lots
of interviews and no money for transcripts. I've only done small test so far but it is very encouraging.
First, load the clip into Avid. Export the audio as Wave or AIFF. Now if you have CS4 open Soundbooth
and import the file.(I'm a little hazy here because I'm not in front of it now). Soundbooth has the ability
to make a text transcript out of the audio file.
Then save that and convert it to a ScriptSync compatible txt file and open in SS in Avid.
It worked great. A little time intensive but all in all very usable. The longest amount tested was about
10 minutes.
Now he's going home and will try it on the 100 hours of interviews he has. He has no money, but plenty of
time.
