You'd need to get Avid to change their marketing strategy. It would be a
GREAT solution for some shops, but Avid don't allow it.
Most, if not all, of the 'feature requests' that I see for MC/Phony have
been in DS since day one. No, DS isn't such an elegant editor as MC, but
(like FCP) once you get your head around it it's very fast to work on. Lots
and lots of folk use it daily for soup-to-nuts all-in offline/online
workflows. I'm not suggesting for a second that every MC user should
migrate immediately to DS, that's absurd and the price would never be right,
but for many self-contained shops that would indeed be their best route
forward.
(In my opinion.)
