[Avid-L2] Re: wmv issues

I use ffmpeg for most encoding. When a client needed material to run in Powerpoint, we had a terrible time finding a format that didn't suck. There is even a "Microsoft MPEG4" codec that you can use for wmv files. It looked pretty good on the Totem player (Ubuntu Linux), but I haven't found a version of Windows Media Player that can handle it. I ended up using one of the older codecs, with unhappy results at many of the transitions.

When I open the asx file, the m4v file then plays in Windows Media player, but the same file will not work in PPT. I can import the asx, but once I'm viewing the slide show, nothing plays. If I try to import the m4v file, I get an unsupported file message. For supported formats in PPT, they list all variations of mpeg 1 and 2.
