[Avid-L2] compatibile and/or legacy Avid codecs

Guess I'll start with the general question. The current Avid codec
2.1 says "designed to run on Leopard v.10.5.5 and higher" Can I run
it on 10.4.11 - is there a compatibility chart or a page to get
legacy versions of the codec (if it comes to that). I didn't see this
on the Avid site. Yea, I could just try it out but thought I'd ask
about this, etc.

I'm running MC 2.7.2 (Mojo SDI) Qt 7.6.4 and Avid codec 1.8 I've had
to do some renders lasting approx 3 minutes in AE that produce white
& yellow flash frames once imported into MC. (Hence the search for a
newer better codec) You don't see them in the Qt player nor do you
get them if you render in AE with Animation codec.

Backstory - optional reading.

Along with much shorter AE animations, I'm using AE to downconvert
XDCAM edits to SD. Now the dirty little secret, I'm doing most of
the editing in FCP because I want the practice and Avid is a handy
way to output to the desired SD deliverable. (then why shoot on HD?
good question!)
