I recently reviewed several. Canon HF S10, $1100. Panasonic HDC-TM300. Both
are AVCHD cameras have some built-in memory and also record to SDHC
cards...Canon makes a camera that¹s the same as the HF S10 without built-in
memory (just records to SDHC cards) that costs a bit less: Canon HF S100.
Panasonic¹s HDC-HS300 ($1200-$1300) appears to be the same as the TM300, but
with a 120GB hard drive (and a higher price...and perhaps shorter battery
life).

Note that it took a while for the magazine to get the cameras to me. Canon
now also sells the HF S11, which is one better than the S10. Seems like
Panasonic may have a replacement for the HS300 in the works...the HS300 is
sold out at B&H and has a newish discount at Amazon. But that¹s just a
guess.

You can find the reviews I wrote for PC World somewhere on pcworld.com. Note
that the reviews were written to their length requirements (short), in their
style, and for their audience (broad). But I think my conclusions are
accurate.

For crazy-long hyper-detailed reviews that seem mostly right-headed, check
out camcorder info.
