Re: [Avid-L2] Local Delivery -HD vs SD / 4x3 Vs 16x9

Remember Digital Transistion has nothing to do with HD transition. I'm in a top 5 market and NBC local broadcasts HD 16 x 9, but puts black pillars on the HD to make it 4 x 3. Sometimes coming back from commercials during the news, the picture will be 16 x 9 on the HD feed, then a second later the pillars will pop in. Even better is when the Chyrons, which are designed center cut safe but still go the width of the raster are inserted live over the pillar instead of under it.

In this particular case, the station, 45th market, said don't even
bother with HD.

They wanted an SD/DVCam master.
