Re: [Avid-L2] Since 1997

It seems that Facebook and various Google or Yahoo groups have replaced most email groups like Avid-L2.  Heck, Avid-L2 itself is distributed as a Yahoo group.  I've been here since 1997 as well.  There's no need for sadness; the same contributors are found on other Google and Yahoo groups.  This is how quickly things change on the internet . . .

I'm likewise grateful for the wonderful resource the Avid-L(2) has been over the years.  Thanks to all who have been so generous with their contributions.  I'm sorry to see it dwindle from what was once an overwhelming flood of information.

For me, this list embodied that resolutely non-commercial sharing of knowledge that was the glory of the early internet.  I wonder if there are many other corners of the net that remain so unchanged after 20 years of fast-forward.

Happy anniversary Job. I'm humbled and grateful for all the valuable contributions you and others have provided this group with.
Too bad that these days the list is almost dead, averaging 3-4 messages a week...

cheers,

So I just looked at my Calendar and saw that last Thursday, Oct 19, it was exactly 20 years ago that I first posted on the original Avid-L mailing list.
I've learned a lot here, and I'm so grateful to have 'met' all of you over the course of those 20 years.
