Roundtrips to any grading tool require following certain rules. If you send a job to some of the A-list houses in the color correction world, they actually have very restrictive rules for how the timeline is to be organized. FCPX/Resolve is no better or worse than MC/Resolve or enything else. Or any other grading tool - Lustre, Baselight, Filmmaster, etc. You simply have to understand the steps and work accordingly. Naturally, grading within the app is the most seamless, which is why Avid editors love Symphony. Color Finale is quite good, but nowhere near as deep or powerful as Resolve.
