Marquee = ancient code. I would avoid it like the plague if you can.
The newer parts of MC, like AMA mount and then transcode are much faster as they use multiple processors. Everything associated with QT, like import / export is limited by the ancient QT code base.
Rendering is much faster on more powerful systems depending upon the effects. But Marquee will never be faster.
