I have a sequence with a safe color limit on V3 and a credit roll on V5. I render V5 for tape output. Later I make a textless version where V5 is stripped off removing the credits. For the textless I have to render the safe color limit on V3. All this makes sense. Here is the curiosity. I then make a duplicate of the first texted sequence for an alternate output. On the duplicate the V5 track is still rendered and V3 is unrendered just as the first sequence was. Now if I take the V3 rendered track from the textless sequence and cut it into the new sequence I expect that V 3 will then be rendered and it is but what's kind of surprising is the V5 track does not get unrendered. I realize that it's fine that it's not unrendered because rendered or not the V3 video is exactly the same in level etc... My curiosity is how does Avid know to not unrender V5? In the past there were certain effects that didn't always unrender the upper levels but that I haven't seen in a long time. I'm assuming because all the video clips are the same Avid doesn't care if it's rendered or not. Not a problem but very interesting that Avid remembers the renders the way it does.
