Well it depends if you drive configuration and RAID controller can achieve
such speed. IF you only have 5 drives (about 120 MB/s at best for your
typical 7200 RPM drive) and you have a decent RAID controller, 600 MB/s
would actually be a great number.
Try replacing the HDD with SSD drives. If the number does not go up
significantly, then the RAID controller is probably just unable to create
the performance you are seeking.
