Re: [Avid-L2] OT: Linux vs OSX vs Windows...

One advantage I've heard posited is that Linux can't go anywhere. At any
given time Microsoft or Apple can completely change their operating systems,
EOL old versions and remove all traces of them. That can't really happen
with Linux. Even if RedHat (or whoever) stopped distributing the Linux build
these companies are relying upon they could move to another provider, or
simply roll their own.

If I owned a company that invested a huge amount of money in software
development I'd be somewhat uncomfortable building my entire product on
another company's platform that I have no control over.
