Hi Andy:
Well that's a possibility we haven't tried yet. If we go record E to E pass through, then perhaps we might get it out that way ? You see without source TC during realtime capture we're totally messed up. This happens especially when we're editing a concert shoot where everything was multiple camera shot Jam-Synced to a Master clock. We want the source clips out of those multiple cameras all with the exact same TC, but if we can't get the source clips in with their referenced recorded TC, then we're in the poke quite badly. Why does Avid not allow for simple HD-SDI reading of the embedded incoming TC ? This is HUGE for us !

Even with fast import this takes time. We try to keep our workflow mostly realtime DNxHD capture and edit, since this has been the most efficient way for us to work thus far. With standard VTR's you often have the option to play source TC out via RS-422 or LTC out, but not with the Flash XDR recorder/player.

The problem is neither our Adrenaline box, nor the Mojo DX, or Nitris DX are capable of de-embedding source TC signal which is embedded within the HD-SDI stream. This problem has proved to be really HUGE for us for several reasons. Is there such a thing as an HD-SDI de-embedder box, which could output the TC signal via a separate LTC or RS-422 interface ? Almost all of the solid state digital HD on camera recording devices seem to output source recorded clip TC only via the HD-SDI to save on size and plug real-estate.
