[Avid-L2] BCC complains trial period has expired.

I'm seeing the following message when applying any BCC effect:

"The BCC6 trial period has expired on this system.
"To purchase a license call...etc."

I am working on 2 systems (laptop originally, more recently desktop) and
moving a hardware dongle between them. Does production-bundle software like
BCC really need a separate license for each machine? Or is there
something else going on?

I have tried new user/new project and uninstall/reinstall of BCC, v. 6.0.4
on the desktop system where I'm getting the error.

My desktop system is not in spec for the OS, which makes it dodgy to
troubleshoot:
running Avid MC Soft v. 5.0.3.9 on OS 10.6.8, 2x2.26 Ghz quad-core Intel
Xeon Mac.

Thanks,
