I have a short sequence & a massive drive of files (not Avid MediaFiles).
If I 'set bin display' to see the sources I can then search the massive drive for the files one by one & alt-drag them into a bin one by one then relink the short sequence. OK for very few sources.
Or I can link to the whole drive (slow) & relink.
Or (I think) I could export a list of those files & find/copy them to a new destination and then AMA & relink. Creates duplicate media I don't really need).

Can I relink (via AMA) before I have the source file in the project? Like I can in PP. I think not. Possible feature request 'relink via source browser'Is there a better way of doing this?

'Relink to file(s)' is not a command I see?
Relink takes me to the regular relink dialogue - which will relink to AMA files *if* they are already in the project.

[Avid-L2] OT: Can't renew my perpetual license.
My problem is that I cannot renew my perpetual license.
After I get to the renew page where I usually select BUY NOW, the only
option I have is to browse the store for plug-ins. What ever I try
always take me to the same place.
If I want to buy a new subscription, no problem. But, no option to renew.
I just want to renew my license before it expires in 5 days.
Anyone had the same issue?
Thanks,
Marcel

Re: [Avid-L2] Console Command for AvidPhoneticindexer?
Good question. I just do a search (Ctrl or Cmnd+F), hit the gear wheel and stop indexing. Re: [Avid-L2] OT: change a Mac OS hot key
Firstly, in Mojave it's exactly where I said it is.Secondly, Toggle On/Off does not do what I want. Which is why I asked the original question.Third, trying to disqualify my question because you do not know how to help answer that question is not helpful. I clearly stated what I wanted to do. I want to know if there is a way to change the hot key combo for temporary toggle zoom. You can't answer that. And saying what I want is something else is just inconsiderate.JayOn May 14, 2020, at 11:14 PM, Mark Spano <cutandcover@gmail.com> wrote:Firstly, the thing you are talking about is not in the location you described.. It does the exact same thing as the Temporary toggle, you just have to hit it twice. So if you program it somewhere you like, you can easily accomplish what you really want to do. Sorry for the noise. Maybe I didn't run MC 2020.4 after installing it (I had previously been using the Catalina beta). Turns out updating the Nablet XAVC XDCAM AMA plugin from 5.0.1 to 5.0.2 fixed the crashing issue.

Re: [Avid-L2] tool for collecting media
[Edited Message Follows]
EDIT: Sorry... I've been off email for a few days, so I'm going through my messages today. I didn't originally see the other posts on this topic. But, hey the Blend-X tool is pretty cool if you guys haven't tried it yet.-----
There's also MDV which still works very well on Windows and Mac. It can collect all media associated with any project and move, copy, delete it however you like. And it's free. While your there, you should check out his Blend-X plug-in which gives us transfer/compositing modes in Avid. Also free.

[Avid-L2] Find list of files to link to #workflow
How are folks conforming to non native media?
I have a short sequence & a massive drive of files (not Avid MediaFiles).
If I ‘set bin display’ to see the sources I can then search the massive drive for the files one by one & alt-drag them into a bin one by one then relink the short sequence. OK for very few sources.
Or I can link to the whole drive (slow) & relink.
Or (I think) I could export a list of those files & find/copy them to a new destination and then AMA & relink. Creates duplicate media I don’t really need).
Questions:
Can I relink (via AMA) before I have the source file in the project? Like I can in PP. I think not. Possible feature request ‘relink via source browser’
Is there a better way of doing this?
MC2020.4 on OS X or 2018.12 on win10

Especially if you're moving media to and from drives. What you 'might' be missing, IIRC, it looks at the project tag to find what project the media belongs, but you can use a clip in another project.(Chances are big that I'm wrong here…)There are still several places on the net to download from. That was just from my google search. I feel every editor should have MDV for media management and to check to see what Avid left after cleaning a project.https://archive.org/web/web.php is always a good place to start looking for old versions etc.Just my 2 cents.Eric
