I agree with you. That would be nice ...
However, even though many of us have been arguing for years that this latest push to popularize 3D was as ill-fated as all previous attempts, and that it was clearly destined to fail again -- its imminent demise is now squarely amongst us.
Both Samsung and Philips do not have a single 3D screen in their entire 2016 line-up:

Now, this isn't a case of "Monday Morning Quarterbacking" -- this was abundantly clear to many folks in the business a long time ago. I never quite understood the short-sided evangelists who would sit on industry panels espousing how this was gong to be the "new normal". What a joke.
You know, I understand you have to "follow the money" and the trends -- and develop tools that satisfy the prevailing market demands -- as moronic as they might be.
However, it's a shame that short-lived fads like these repeatedly cause hardware and software companies to redirect critically important resources in order to chase formats whose lifespan and narrow deployment in the marketplace cannot possibly offset the R&D costs.
Even worse, while all of this time and money is being wasted on supporting dead-end technology, their core products lie fallow and stagnate even further -- losing whatever competitive edge they might have had over companies that did not "take the bait" -- and just stuck to their guns.
I will now resist the temptation to comprehensively enumerate the many MC features that fall into this category.

I know there are softwares out there to simulate the 3D effect. Yes I know its not great. But the DP does not want the huge unwieldily 3D camera unit so they are thinking shoot 2D, convert in software to some kind of faux 3D
