It's been a very long time since I've been up here and I haven't done many edit rooms. But I guess it's time for people to start upgrading so I'm back to doing upgrades again.
Anyway, most of the systems I've done in the past I've speced out Laptops with docks etc. Now I have someone who's interested in putting together a room with a Garbage can tower and a large client monitor and will be doing a bunch of 4K RED work with it. Local storage is fine for them for now.
What are people using for monitoring these day's. I was thinking of using an AJA converter and going HDMI to the Monitor is that the best option these day's? And as far as audio monitoring. I'm guessing I can just use the Headphone out and the line input using a small mixer correct or is it better to go with a more robust I/O Box. There is no tape I/O anymore for them so the only input would be a Scratch Mic I would assume and those can be USB.
Thoughts?
