I can promise you that it's not in my latest book, or any of them - other than the basics.
This is not really in my wheelhouse. There are people for whom this is a passion. It's way too much math for me. The extent of my knowledge is to plug in the hardware, run the software and follow the "wizard." Sorry, if this disappoints anyone. I just have bigger fish to fry in my everyday life than to become a monitor calibration expert. But when you find out, Tod, let me know.

Yeah, programmers and UI designers for some products are not necessarily aware of proper color evaluation environments and so you end-up with UI choices that might not work very wellIn FCP7, video windows use different levels from the UI, courtesy of Quicktime. Am I missing such a setting in Avid?In Media Composer, trying to get the video window in the UI to match the evaluation monitor perfectly, seems to be pursuing the perfect at the expense of the good. The lack of extra ambient light from the UI is the biggest issue, followed closely by the color temperature setting, and the general color neutrality of the interface. I would not sacrifice any of these to get a perfect image in the tiny, nearly useless video window.Cheers, tod
